TCRA Empowers African Nations with Communication Expertise: Eswatini Delegates Complete Successful Training

The Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) reinforces its position as a leading provider of communication training, imparting valuable knowledge and expertise to other African countries. Recently, a delegation of communication experts from Eswatini Communications Commission (ESCCOM) participated in a comprehensive two-day training program at TCRA's headquarters, focusing on the broadcasting sector.

The experts from Eswatini embarked on this study tour to gain insights into broadcasting systems, broadcasting licenses, and the latest trends in television and radio broadcasting. Their visit spanned from October 9 to 13, 2023.

Vusi Khumalo, Communications Manager at ESCCOM, led the delegation and expressed their gratitude to TCRA for the exceptional cooperation and knowledge they acquired. Khumalo specifically highlighted TCRA's investments in content monitoring systems and broadcasting network licensing as critical areas of learning for the Eswatini team.

Upon their arrival at TCRA headquarters in Dar es Salaam, the Eswatini delegation was warmly received by John Daffa, Director of Licensing and Compliance, representing TCRA Director General Dr. Jabiri Bakari.

Daffa expressed his confidence in the success of the training session. Following introductions, experts from various TCRA units engaged in fruitful discussions with their Eswatini counterparts, sharing experiences and knowledge related to the operations of the communication sector.

Tanzania, through TCRA, has been a key player in providing benchmarking visits and training opportunities for communication regulatory institutions from various countries. These initiatives aim to enhance participants' understanding of various aspects within the communication sector and cement sector relations.

Notably, in October 2023, TCRA hosted a delegation of experts from Eswatini, marking the second group of visitors welcomed that month. This followed an earlier visit by a delegation from the Mali Communications and Postal Services Authority (AMRTP). Additionally, in September 2023, TCRA hosted a delegation from the Communications Authority of Mozambique (INCM), further demonstrating its unwavering commitment to knowledge sharing and collaboration in the region.

These benchmarking visits and training opportunities provide a valuable platform for participants to gain insights into Tanzania's regulatory framework, best practices, and advancements in the communication sector.

“By fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration, TCRA is playing a pivotal role in strengthening the capabilities of communication regulatory institutions across the region,” emphasized TCRA DG Dr. Jabiri Bakari.
