A New Management of the African Continent’s Postal Sector Body, the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) has assumed office today, 1st September 2021 following a colourful hand-over event held at the PAPU Investment Complex, Head Office in Arusha-Kilimanjaro Region.

The Outgoing Secretary General of the Pan African Postal Union (PAPU), Mr. Younouss Djibrine; handed over the leadership to incoming Secretary General of the Pan African Postal Union, Mr. Sifundo Chief Moyo during an event that was officiated by Minister for Communication and Information Technology of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Dr. Faustin Ndugulile (MP).

As part of leadership change at The African Continent body, the Outgoing Assistant Secretary General of the Pan African Postal Union, Mr. Kolawole Aduloju also handed-over the Office to Ms. Jessica Hope Uwera Sengooba.

PAPU continues to play its pivotal role in building A SINGLE AFRICAN POSTAL TERRITORY at all times and in all circumstances, as its contribution towards achieving the common and constant aspiration of Africa’s people for inclusive and sustainable socioeconomic development.

Changes in the Management of Pan African Postal Union (PAPU) has been stipulated under the official procedure of credible succession after reaching the end of their tenure with a remarkable acheivements.

The New Management assumes office while the COVID 19, pandemic has distrupted business operations modalities and projected to have long impact on the normal business continuity furthermore, this pose as a challenge to the general public on rethinking the right way forward.

Re-evaluation and evaluating strategies are currently required so as to cope with the existing situation and turning the current challanges into opportunities for new giving solutios to the current situation either by changing service delivery mode or changes on the products and services, so as to maintain customers and hence business continuity through protecting the postal industry and strengthen its capacity to anticipate and manage similar crises in the future.

The United Republic of Tanzania has cherished a culture of continous working with PAPU in fulfilling its mission through support and facilitation of its initiativies both in Tanzania and within Africa.

Tanzania through the Communication Sector’s Regulator, the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) is commited and looking forward to seeing PAPU Headquarters building, the long-awaited “PAPU House”, a reality of efforts made over the last four decades, giving the rise of the 17-storey tower that will grace the skyline of Arusha.

TCRA will fully associate itself with the PAPU towards looking into all aspects relating to the establishment of a strong and robust Postal Sector. Evidently Africa requires such a strong institution at this point in time and in the future to steer her to the much-cherished development and prosperity of a United Continent. “TCRA believes that together, we can transform PAPU into one strong union in African in the near future for the common good of all people of Africa”. Says the TCRA Director General Dr. Jabiri K. Bakari.

Construction of the 17 Storey -PAPU Investment House Complex based in the ‘Geneva’ of Africa in Arusha has created employment to thousands involved in the construction process and will cost a total of 39,622,306,245.00Bshs/- VAT inclusive, upon completion by next year, June 2022.
