4 EMMERGE WINNERS IN CYBERCHAMPIONS COMPETITION 2025

FOUR Students have emerged winners in the CyberChampions competition in 2025. The competition organized and coordinated by the Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority - TCRA, has involved more than six hundred (600) participants from over 40 higher learning institutions across the country.

The winners are Amani Nsemwa from the University of Dodoma (UDOM), Julius Mpagama from Ruaha Catholic University (RUCU), John Mange from the Institute of Accountancy Arusha (IAA) and Rebeca Kubanda from the University of Dodoma (UDOM).

Speaking at the award ceremony to the winners in the competition, Director General of TCRA Dr. Jabiri Bakari appealed to the youth and students to utilise opportunities available in information and Communication Technology in the world and focus on digital innovation.

Dr. Jabiri said that there are multiple opportunities available in the cyber space if young people will use those opportunities to earn income and stimulate the development of the digital economy.

"There are many opportunities that are available by using Digital Technology, so try to make earn money out of it” said Dr. Bakari.

He added that the digital economy does not require a person to have a lot of money or a large capital, but what is required is to use intelligence to develop useful programs that help solve challenges in the society around them.

He said that the current world is digitalized, so the youth must be aware of the opportunities available from the primary education level to universities by creating digital clubs that will enable them to know the opportunities and use them in the digital world.

The CyberChampions competition is organized by TCRA aimed at identifying, strengthening and developing the capacity of young people to face online security risks and participate fully in the digital economy.

The CyberChampions competition which was previously known as CyberStars is being held for the sixth consecutive phase involving young people from higher education institutions across Tanzania. For the year 2025, there has been a large number of registered participants compared to previous years, thus giving motivation to the organizers to think more in terms of online security and continue to organize these competitions in a different way and in the highest quality.

The process of finding participants begins with the announcement of registration and other important information about the competition which is provided through TCRA's social media pages as well as the website www.tcra.go.tz.

Some of the participants of the competition have congratulated TCRA for organizing the competition and increasing their knowledge in the area of ​​online security while calling on other young people to participate in the CyberChmapions competition for other years.

Speaking after receiving the award. The third winner of the CyberChampions 2025 Mr. Julius Mpagama has said that the competition has built their capacity and increased knowledge on digital network.

He also said that the establishment digital clubs in their colleges will be given priority so that every young person knows the opportunities available in the digital world, different from what they know now.
