TCRA Encourages Unity Among Independent Producers for Quality Content Advancement

Dar es Salaam, October 16, 2023

Tanzania Communications Regulatory Authority (TCRA) has issued a compelling call to independent content producers in the country, urging them to unite. This unity, TCRA believes, will enable the government to more effectively support their endeavors and promote the development and accessibility of high-quality content nationwide.

During a meeting held at TCRA's headquarters in Dar es Salaam, TCRA's Director General, Dr. Jabiri Bakari, underlined the importance of solidarity among independent content producers. He emphasised that this unity is pivotal to their growth and their ability to tap into potential support.

Dr. Jabiri commended the producers for their outstanding contributions to the industry and advocated for the revival of Tanzania Independent Producers Association (TAIPA). This revival, he noted, would facilitate coordination among them and significantly bolster the industry.

"TCRA recognises the value of industry associations, particularly in representing the collective voice of industry players. It is, therefore, imperative for you to reinvigorate your activities and work together to strengthen relationships between institutions and enhance the coordination of your efforts to create better content and foster industry growth," stated Dr. Bakari.

He also underscored the vital role of the domestic content industry in job creation and overall development.

TCRA reiterated its support for independent producers in their pursuit of expanding this vital sector.

The meeting, convened by the Authority's broadcasting services section, brought together independent content producers from various regions in Tanzania. Participants engaged in discussions that covered a wide range of topics related to the domestic content industry, including challenges faced by the sector and available opportunities.
